Selectmen Meeting Minutes
January 28th, 2008

Present: B. Pratt, M. Genest, S. Schacht, W. Prokop, D. Hanson, M. Noble, D. Winchester, M. Pon, S. Bonacci.

1. The selectmen approved the minutes of the meeting of January 14th, 2008

2. The selectmen accepted the letter of resignation received from Mary Hammond. Due to her health problems, she is unable to continue the duties of Town Clerk/Tax Collector. The selectmen voted to send her a letter of thanks for her years of faithful service to the Town.

3. The selectmen appointed Donna Hanson to the position of Tax Collector. They also asked her to continue as Acting Town Clerk until the election is held in March. They expressed their thanks to her for the extra time she has been putting in during Mary Hammond’s illness and for the excellent job she has been doing as Acting Town Clerk/Tax Collector.

4. The selectmen gave their approval for the Boys Scouts from the Daniel Webster Council to use ATV’s on Town roads during their council event in Antrim this spring.

5. The selectmen reviewed the 2008 Budget Presentation that is planned for February 5th at 7:00 P.M.

6. M. Noble and D. Winchester expressed their concern regarding the changes going on at Antrim Elementary School and Great Brook School. The selectmen felt that this is not something that they have any power to address since this is a Conval School Board issue and the decisions on the school are addressed at the district level and not at the town level. They urged her to discuss this further with our school board representatives. They understood the selectmen’s position and asked that the selectmen attend the meeting that will be held at Great Brook School on Wednesday, January 30th at 7:00 P.M. so that they can see and hear the concerns of the parents of Antrim Elementary School students.

7. The selectmen approved the plan to conduct a wood cut on Town Land, Map 219, Lots 010 and 011. This will be managed by New England Forestry Consultants, Inc. and it is estimated that it will yield approximately $5,000.00 of revenue to the Town. It has been 23 years since these lots were last harvested.

8. The selectmen reviewed an ordinance that the Town of Hillsborough has regarding “Obstructions in Street” and they will give this consideration for future adoption.

9. The C.I.P. Committee has requested that the Board of Selectmen follow up on getting a Town wide Park and Recreations needs study done before any major funds are committed beyond 2008. The selectmen agreed and will discuss this with the Park and Recreation Commission.

10. The selectmen approved the update to the Town’s ADA Policy. This will now be posted in Town Hall and on the website.

11. The selectmen reviewed various correspondences that have been received and approved the A/P and Payroll for the week.

The meeting adjourned at 9:30 P.M.

The next meeting will be the Public Hearing on the 2008 Budget. It will be held upstairs in the Town Hall at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 5, 2008.
